Kris Ringman (they/she) is a Deaf queer artist and author inspired by nature, animals, and world mythology. Kris is obsessed with the intersection of wildlife and human—the ways that all of us must learn to shapeshift in response to the challenges we face throughout our lives. Kris welcomes any way their artwork can be a source of activism for environmental protection, climate change, and diversity advocacy. Kris strives to incorporate De’VIA (Deaf View/Image Art) into their work whenever possible and are excited to paint murals featuring ASL signs in addition to endangered and local wildlife, botanical illustrations with poetry, and native plants with their pollinators. Their murals showcase an expressive, illustrative style with folk and fantasy elements. In addition to murals, they do smaller paintings on wood panels as well as craft their own rune sets and amulets. Kris is also the author of two Lambda Literary finalist books, MAKARA: a novel, I Stole You: Stories from the Fae, and a poetry collection, Sail Skin: poems. When not painting or writing, they can be found wandering up mountains or across the sea.
